I was recently sent a copy of this newly published book to read. Suicide is a true story written by the author , Sarah Tyler , which tells of the events leading up to and the tragic death of her younger sister Katy.

Katy passed away almost 38 years ago and Sarah initially wrote the story as she believed Katy would have talked it through had she still been here. Some years later , she was persuaded to re-write to the events from her own perspective.

The outcome of this re-write is a compelling, heart wrenching and moving tale of one sister’s love for another. In the space of a few short pages the reader is taken on a roller coaster of emotions, including guilt, anger, fear , sorrow , heartache and distaste for the actions taken , all of the aforementioned emotions can be felt by the reader as passionately as if they themselves were a part of the story and not an outsider looking in.

When someone takes their own life there are so many questions to be asked by those who are left behind, many of which cannot ever be answered , this book seeks to in some small way give possible indications as to what may have happened. It is a hugely brave thing that Sarah Tyler has tackled, with great dignity and honesty. If the book helps just one person who finds themselves in her position then it has done its job.
